Box End Fresh Sesh

Uniwake presents...Box end freshers session 2011
Mid October saw universities from across the country meet and Box End cable park for the sixth Box End fresher session. This event organised by Uniwake in association with Relentless and Box End cable is aimed specifically at assisting beginners in learning the basics of cable riding. With Relentless sponsored rider James Young on hand as well as the box end staff there was a wealth of advice for all who needed it.

This year saw the most people ever at a box end fresher session with over 160 students braving the autumn weather to join in. Many of the students who attended had never got up and round a cable before they arrived and all left happy with what they had accomplished from, jump starts to corner one to those who braved their first obstacles and landed them!

Saturday evening saw the infamous big air comp at box end. With entries from every uni riders took to the cable till the very last of the light. Congratulations to Will James for winning the Big Air comp with his insanely high tricks off the kicker. Not only did Uniwake do its own comps individual universities had their own prizes to give away for most improved fresher’s with so much incentive it’s not surprising that so many students improved massively this weekend.

Saturday night saw box end do what it does best and party hard with the students in the boat house, for those still keen in the morning the hangover session began (once the mist cleared from the lake).

Sunday afternoon saw the students part back to their individual unis with new tricks learnt, new friends made and a new uniwake committee. The development session at box end in May promises to be bigger and better than ever if this weekend is anything to go by.
